Our health care system is undergoing major change: providers, insurers, and other industry stakeholders are testing and adapting to new payment and delivery models focusing on cost and quality. Yet without strong and informed consumer input, these reforms may not meet the complex needs of patients, consumers, and communities throughout Georgia.
Georgians for a Healthy Future has identified health system transformation as an important emerging consumer health issue. In 2016 and 2017, we will work on developing principles for health system reform that place patients and consumers at the center. As part of our work in this area, Georgians for a Healthy Future also supports the development of an All Payer Claims Database (APCD) in Georgia to help policymakers, stakeholders, and advocates gain a better understanding of health care costs, utilization, and population needs and trends.
