Jay E. Berkelhamer, Treasurer

Jay E. Berkelhamer, M.D., F.A.A.P., is an Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine, Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at Morehouse School of Medicine, and a retired general pediatrician, emeritus staff at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He is a Past President of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Academic Pediatric Association, and the Chicago Pediatric Society. Berkelhamer served as the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Academic Officer at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  He was also Chair of Pediatrics at the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit prior to his move to Atlanta in 1999. He attended the University of Michigan and trained in Pediatrics at the University of Chicago.

He is a member of the Standing Committee of the International Pediatric Association and serves on its executive committee.  He currently co-chairs the Health Council for the Atlanta Metropolitan United Way and serves on the Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students (GEEARS) Board of Directors.  Dr. Berkelhamer is a board member of the National Reach Out and Read Center and a Trustee of America’s Promise Alliance.
